"Never Fall Down" is a novel about the Cambodian genocide, told through the eyes of a young boy named Arn, who is an 11 year old boy. Throughout the book Arn continues to grow up as they show his experience in the genocide. This book shows how horrors the Khmer Rouge was, and the effects of what they did. Arn gets separated from his family and has to adapt to be on his own, he doesn't have many friends with him and its hard to know who to trust because everyone is doing anything to save themselves-even if it means hurting or killing someone else. All day long, for four years, Arn and the rest of the kids have to work in the rice fields. They are very limited to food, many dying from lack of nutrition, starvation, dehydration, sicknesses and diseases. Most people died from the Khmer Rouge killing them for not doing what they were supposed to, being to educated, or simply because they fell asleep while working. Arn will have to fight through these hard four years to get his freedom back.
